Just had to share with you all about Luke's great day!

I know many of you might be surprised to see such a quick update after just getting one yesterday, but I had to share some good news. Luke had a great day today. First we went to a PT/OT appt this morning and he was fitted for a new chair to sit in at home and also had his stroller fixed so that it could be more comfortable for him. While we were there we went into a room filled with switch toys and many amazing electronic devices. They hooked up a switch button to a tape recorder and put on a children's tape and Luke made it go and then made it stop and then continued to make the music go as he was asked to do so. He also made it go with touching his head to a special switch that the music came directly out of. It was so exciting for me to hear both his PT and OT say that he is definitely following directions on command.

We then left there and went directly to an eye specialist. I know I mentioned that we went there last month and Luke fell asleep almost immediately so that we could not really get a good assesment done on his eyes. Today he stayed awake and I was so excited as he looked straight at the Dr. as he asked him to and he also was doing exactly what his eyes were supposed to be doing. The Dr. shone a light right into his eyes and watched as his pupils did exactly what they should be doing. Then he layed him on the floor and hung a ball to the side and just above his head, the Dr. then said that he looked at the ball and reached for it, it was called a special name though for the life of me I can't remember, but he said that it was how a newborn reaches for things when he is beginning to realize that he can make his hand reach for something that his eyes sees. I had also told the the Dr. that I've been seeing a lot more blinking lately and he told me that is excellent it means that he is actually adjusting his vision to things around him and one last thing that I've noticed lately is that I sometimes see just below his eye quiver a bit and the Dr. said that that means he is trying hard to adjust his eyes to see clearly. PTL, our God is moving just as I knew He would, healing Luke from the inside out. The Dr. also said that the things that he is seeing means the cortex part of the brain is beginning to function once again.

Then tonight Natalie and I took him out the HBOT center for a dive and he was trying to lift up his head and body to watch PSALTY the singing song book video. I told him that he could sit up if he wanted to but he's just not ready for that yet. He seems to continue to be so aware of things around him it is so wonderful to see him take an interest in what is going on. One last thing to share is that he is doing so much better at coughing and getting the junk out of his lungs, but he stills needs prayer that he won't have to do that anymore because his lungs will be completely cleared up. I'm so happy that he continues to stay healthy and we plan to leave this Friday Lord willing for our camping trip.

Love in Christ,
Luke's Mommy Sue

Good Morning All-
WOW!!! I wrote a quick note last night. I feel that God is healing Luke from the inside out and that all is going well by his schedule. I am so very happy to hear that Luke is doing well. Remember to get your rest Sue as Luke and all will have you running in tight circles again soon enough. Give God time to keep healing Luke and you will all soon be relieved again.
God Bless my prayers are always with you. Mary :)

Praise the Lord! What a wonderful post and testimony of God's miraculous powers at work in Luke's life! Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with Luke and your whole family.

Please pray for my little cousin who is in the hospital with spinal meningitis (sp?) He is three years old and is just coming out of a comma, they say he is getting better but are unsure of how long he will be in the hospital. He is the youngest of ten children, my relatives in Lynden-Jim and Laurie. Blessings to you!

Wow. I have read for a long time. I found myself negative when I clicked on the link. But I'm just reminded of God's glory.

God bless Luke and all of you! So thrilled to read this!

Dear Sue - I am sorry I've not written much lately, but think and pray for you and your family often. I so appreciate your continued encouragements along the way, even when your life is so up and down. I understand so much of your emotions and prayers, and just the burden of your heart. One song that comes to mind often for me is "It will be worth it all, when we see Jesus . . ." Someday we WILL understand about the trials of this earth. We are being "watched" and may our testimonies through these dark valleys, still show the SON SHINE in our lives.

I hope and pray you can have a wonderful, relaxing, vacation, and that Luke stays well, and his continued improvements continue for your rejoicing and giving God glory.

Love & Prayers - Loni

What a mighty God we serve~
What a mighty God we serve~
angels bow before HIM
heaven and earth adore HIM
what a mighty God we serve~

tonight in our contemporary service (Michael plays praise/worship on his elec. guitar) they played

draw me nearer, nearer Blessed Lord to the cross where thou has died...

this past year has drawn me closer to the MY Lord... crying out on Luke's behalf and being able to see God's glory work in Luke's life.

I sat here with tears reading about how he followed the commands~ PTL PTL PTL PTL and then at the eye doctors... WOW ... truly a miracle sent straight from God HIMSELF....

OH Gordy, Sue, Daniel, Amy, Natalie, Isaiah, Zeke, and Lily~
you are so so very special to us.
YOU all have shown what faith in God can do... it has carried you ALL through this past year. YOUR faith has made you "do the next thing" when the world was crashing down... YOUR FAITH made you share with the world what your heart was/is feeling and opened a great door for others to see and lift you up in prayer.

We have truly been changed by LUKE SEARLES..... I praise the LORD for LUKE... I will continue to praise the Lord for working mightly in Luke's life and still working....

remember the little song:
HE's still working on me...
to make me what I ought to be..
it took 6 days to make the moon and the stars, the sun and the earth and jupiter and mars...
how lovely and patiently HE must be cause HE's still working on me!

We love you LUKE~ we send you HUGS and KISSES... Wyatt & Wesley KNOW your name and we pray for you!

all of you are so very special and will always be a part of our life~

your Georgia friends,
Billy, Teena, Michael, Mandi, Dakota, Alyssa, Wyatt & Wesley

What a wonderful update on Luke's progress! Praise you mighty God, who hears all of the prayers on Luke's behalf.

It just occurred to me, that I haven't posted in I don't know how long, but I check in to this site and pray for Luke daily.

Maybe as the anniversary approaches, could all of us who are the silent prayer warriers maybe post a word or two to let the Searles family know that we haven't forgotten. It might be encouraging for them to know how many are out there. If you are there, and don't post regularly but check in and pray, could you give a word of encouragement to the Searles family?
