It's been 3 years since Luke's drowning accident and we are so thankful for your continued support and prayers

Can you believe it's been 3 years since Luke's drowning accident? There are days that it seems like it just happened yesterday and other days that I can't remember what life was life before that horrible day. We are very thankful for the progress that Luke has made and feel blessed by the fact that so many people are still praying for his complete healing to come. It would be so wonderful to hear from those of you that are still following Luke's progress, your comments are very special and each one of them makes my day.

Here's some pictures from the Torchlight Parade, Luke did such an awesome job that night, below is the kids, plus Karlos at the Zoo, then the Railroad Museum with the Starlight, Starbright group, ending with the beautiful waterfall at Mt. Rainier.

Luke came down with the horrible flu on Saturday, by that night I had to change his diaper many times. Yesterday he kept throwing up or having diarrhea each time we would feed him. Last night I was up all night watching him, I didn't want him to aspirate his throw up so I held him until this morning. This morning he has kept down his food, please be praying that this will pass quickly, as he just can't afford to lose any weight.

We had actually planned to go camping today until the 15th, we always love to go when school has started the campgrounds are empty and the weather is still wonderful. It's gotten to the place lately though where I almost dread making any plans as they seem to always get changed. I'm hoping that Luke will be better by tomorrow and we can get out tomorrow evening. We have had a good summer filled with trips to the Zoo, hikes on Mt. Rainier, free tickets from Starlight, Starbright for a tour on the USS Turner Joy, to go Putt Putt Golfing, to attend a Mariner's game and go to a Train Museum with a ride on an old steam train.

As I mentioned on Tuesday night we received 15 free tickets to go to a Mariners Game, so we filled up our 12 passenger van and went to have some fun. I invited a young gentleman that we met awhile back, he is Ukrainian, this was his first baseball game, so I had the fun task of explaining the game to him. The Mariners lost but we still had a great time. Then on Thursday the anniversary day of Luke drowning accident I decided I needed to get away from the home so Natalie, Isaiah, Ezekiel and I went on a beautiful hike up one of Mt. Ranier's many trails. We went up 2 miles, about 2,000 feet to see some of the most beautiful waterfalls I've ever seen. To say this was challenging would be a understatement. There were many times the boys wanted to quit, but I would say we Searles are not quitters and we would plug on, they both thought it was worth it when we got there. The hike down was a whole lot easier.

On Saturday we went to Seattle, Gordy dropped Natalie, Isaiah, Ezekiel and myself off at the Seattle Science Center, where we saw the IMAX movie the Eruption of Mt. St. Helens, which is a very good movie. We then walked 2 miles to QWEST Field, I really enjoyed walking through Seattle it is a beautiful city and we were blessed with beautiful weather. We went to see our good friend Spencer play football at QWEST Field. He plays for the Lake Lancers High School Football team. He is the only home schooler on the team and though he is only a sophomore he is on the second string for the varsity. He did not get to play but we had a great time cheering the team on to victory.

May God richly bless you today! Once again thank you for your continued support and prayers, we have gotten to know so many new friends through this blog and it would be good to hear how you are doing.

Love in Christ,
Luke's Mommy Sue

Great pictures - you all look like you are having fun! I was so sorry to hear that Luke is sick again - I'll be praying for a quick recovery for him and Amy so that you can go camping soon. I know Zeke is really looking forward to it :)

As always, we continue to pray for Luke's complete healing.

We rejoice at Summer fun, and the blessings of family, friends, and fun. God is good!

And we continue to contend for grace, strength, encouragement, and a joy-filled life in the midst of adversity.

A prominent national magazine sends out quotes and encouragement in a regular email called "Streams of Revival", one of which I thought I'd share below. I found it interesting, and challenging. I also saw echoes of it's truth in the difficult times in our lives and thought of you as well. May we all be encouraged...

Adversity Brings Intimacy

“In the Western church today, the thought of intimacy with Jesus too often echoes in church halls as a lovely sentiment but not a life-and-death decision. These institutions relate the desire for intimacy to Phil. 3:10: 'That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection ... ' Usually, though, they do not finish the verse. It continues: ‘and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death.’

“In this irony is a powerful revelation: Intimacy comes through suffering. That is why the Holy Spirit chose to use Paul not only to pen these words but also to demonstrate them through his own life by suffering for the gospel.

“We must not accept the pacifying theology that suffering is outside the will of God or that suffering is a sign of Satan having his way in a believer's life. Accusations in our hearts about God's unwillingness to alleviate pain and suffering will prevent us from embracing the cross. If we truly want to be a bride fit for her Bridegroom, we must be willing to do what He did for us: lay down our lives for the sake of love (see Rev. 12:10-11).”

Sue, I always think of Luke... of all of you. My computer has been acting up. I am still on dial up and it takes so long connect. I have his picture in my bible and we continue to pray for him. YOUR testimony of God's faithfulness is such an encouragement to me.

This morning in my quiet time I was reading in Psalms .... and what I received from the Lord ...
rest, wait and trust. I know so many of us can claim that... but it was just what I needed for today.

I am always so encouraged to come here and read and see all the pictures.

I am praying for Luke... praying that this flu bug is GONE.... and that all of you are well. I am praying that school this year will be the best ever. I know your girls will help out and be such a blessing to you and their brothers!

Mandi is in Tx. visiting friends. I miss her help so much and I MISS her. Wyatt woke the other day and said "mama, I dreamed Mandi was home" :( She will be home next week. :) She is not sure what from there but God is in control and she has such a heart for missions.

I want to sit and write you a long letter... by snail mail but it seems the hours in the day are not enough.

I am so thankful that we were able to pray/lift up Luke ... these past three years. YOU ALL are so special to us and have touched our life in such a mighty way.

we love you ~
your Georgia friends,
Billy, Teena, Michael, Mandi, Dakota, Alyssa, Wyatt & Wesley (and soon to be Amber 11/11/07)

Just wanted to say HI, and let you know we pray for Luke and the family regularly. We were really looking forward to seeing you all again camping in August (Millersylvania) and were so diapppointed to hear you had to cancel. It's so good to "keep up" via this blog, to rejoice in Luke's progress and see how the kids have grown, hard to believe we have young adult children!
God's richest blessings on you all and we hope to see you soon!
