We are back home

It has been an extremly long day. Last night around 6:00 Luke began to run a fever. The fever ranged from 101 -104. In addition to the fever, his heart rate was elevated. Sue was up all night with Luke and sometimes Lilly. At 5:00am we called a consulting nurse and they recommended that we take him to the hospital. We arrived at the hospital around 6:15 am until 3:45pm this afternoon. At the hospital, they ran blood tests, urine tests, test on the secretions from his trach, xrays and other tests all in an effort to determine the cause of the fever. From the tests, the Dr believes that Luke is developing an infection, but is not able to pin point the source. They gave Luke an antibiotic via IV to fight the infection. We have to return to the hospital tomorrow at 3:00pm to have Luke examined again and make sure he is improving. Needless to say, Sue is wiped out, she is lying down now for a nap. We contacted one of our nurses and she will be coming this evening to help with the night shift.

Please pray that Sue will be refreshed, that Lily will sleep, and that Luke will be healed, in more ways then one.

I so appreciate each and everyone of you and the prayers that you offer up to God on our behalf. May God bless you.

Dear Gordy, Sue & children,
We are still praying... and will continue to pray! I feel a loss for words but want to let you know we are thinking of you and asking our Heavenly Father to fight the fight for Luke and to refresh Sue and give all of you a peaceful night. We will be thinking/praying as you go back tomorrow to check on Luke. Thank you so much for the update and letting us know how to pray.

May our God give you peace and rest.

Gordy and family - I hope you can rest up and keep your strength. Being so busy must be taxing. Take care.

Hiya Luke - that nasty old fever will make you feel bad but you don't worry about it. You're a strong boy. Take care little guy.

Dear Gordy, Sue, & family,
Just checking in with you... thinking and praying for Luke today. I am praying Sue that you were able to sleep some.... and feel refreshed. Also, praying as you went back to the hospital that everything was good....
Lifting all of you up to the Lord.... MAY HE GIVE YOU STRENGTH AND PEACE... as you go through each day. MAY HE HEAL LUKE'S FEVER... and continue with the great progress he was making earlier this past week! We are still so happy for Amy.... we are praying for the girls and the little boys.... too!

I certainly do pray for Luke's immediate recovery from this infection and for his continued healing.

This is sort of random, but I was watching a show on PBS yesterday about Mt. Everest. They were talking about altitude sickness at one point and then showed a portable hyperbaric bag in use to treat it. I immediately thought of Luke and wondered if this is something you could use? I have no idea if the bags are exactly the same, or as effective as the chambers, but it might be worth looking into. Of course, I can't imagine him being too keen on the idea of getting into one of these by himself, but anyway, I thought it was at least worth passing the info along to you. I found this page that lists three different brands of the bags with links: http://www.high-altitude-medicine.com/hyperbaric.html

God's peace to you,
