Luke gets a new trach

Luke had his trach changed today for the first time. The surgeon that performed the tracheostomy came and removed the old trach and put in a new trach. At which point he turned to me and said "now it is your turn". I looked at him with some surprise and said okay. I must admit I was a bit nervous and at first it didnt want to go in, however I was successful. We are being trained to suction Luke's trach along with cleaning it and being able to care for it.

Love you guys and always remember whatever the circumstances of life, God is good. God has been faithful to my family and I pray that each and every person that is reading this will come to a full understanding of God's mercy and love. He is a faithful friend and no greater love then this to lay down a life for another.

GO Gordy GO.....Time to cheer all of you on as you learn to care for sweet Luke....and are able to take Him home with you....Home with His family where he will get the ultimate love and care as well as Im sure lots of singing, stories and kisses from His siblings...I know with my children how important they are to one another and when one is away how much they miss them..So I can imagine how much they all miss Luke right now and are looking forward to his coming home very soon.

We are praying for Luke to have the ability to cough and swallow, for complete healing and for the transition time as you take Him home to care for him.

We are thanking the Lord that there was NO infection...another answer to PRAYER...God is faithful

Just wanted to check before going to sleep. It is late here on the East coast. Wow, way to go! You are a testimony to us all. I know this is going to sound funny but could you tell Luke that his friend named Wesley from Georgia is praying for him! Wesley is close to Luke's age .. he is 14 months. When our 5th child was born Wyatt... Richard Wheeler's grandson "Baby William" was born (@23wks).. we would pray with our Wyatt for Baby William and now we are praying with our Wesley for your Luke! I hope all this makes sense! God is indeed showing us HIS awesomeness!
blessings,
friends from GA

Way to go Gordy. Like all new things it is scary. One aspect of working with Luke in this way is that you know you are helping him. This is a physical reminder, to you, that you are really helping him. Helping people in need can be big job. Every day you and the rest of Luke's "support group" should give yourselves a pat on the back.

Hi Luke, I hope you are doing better. It must be a nice feeling to get so much love. Sleep tight.

Go Gordy! Consider the process the same as an iseries upgrade with critical infrastructure implications (got a change control?). HAHA! Love ya and sending sincere wishes for continued positive progress. You're a brave, honest and honorable man! A fine example of perserverance in the face of adversity.

LOL it happened to Hebert through caring for me, even Meghanne thinks she's a nurse because she has had to learn so many things to help care for her momma! For those who don't know me , I realize the Searles face a serious situaion, but I have found through my own serious health trials, humor goes a loooong way, you have to laugh about something, so please folks I am not mocking Gordy, I'm just teasing him in a loving Christian sister way, I care too much for the Searles to grieve them in anway, nuff said!! Wow...I did it. Created a blog so I can still come here.
Gordy, we all know the post which you had to delete was from the enemy. He doesn't want us here because we are here in the name of the Lord. Remember that...nothing anyone can say can take us away from our Heavenly Father. We know the truth and the truth sets us free. I pray this person will someday know the truth, it will surely set them free from their bondage.
Yes, dear ones, I will pray for the Lord to bless you with wisdom and discernment. As I was reading and reflecting I recalled a short time ago, when Mother was so ill and I knew some of the decisions which I had to make could not come from me. After praying with a dear friend iand Elder in my church in Sisters, Oregon, he received a word from God...actually 3...
The first one is...
Isaiah 30:21...And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right and, and when ye turn to the left...He will surely be walking right behind you guiding and directing every step you and Sue take...
The second one is...
Isaiah 58:11...And the Lord shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat they bones; and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose water fail not...soak in the waters of his mighty love...
The third one is...
John 10:27...My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me...He will never lead you astray, continue to hear his voice and follow him in the way you are.
I truely pray these words will give you the great comfort they did for me and my family when we didn't know where else to turn.
I am so proud of all of you. Praise God for all he has and will do for you. Go Searles...Luke I love you

I haven't been on lately but have been caught up by cf in AZ(my loving sister). The first thing that comes to my mind is Romans 8:28 "ALL things work together for good for those who love the Lord." This is obviosly your family. Your actions and reactions must be pleasing to our Savior. May you continue to be strengthened by our Faithful God who loves you all so very much.
Love and Prayers, Caroline, Tom, Katey, Joseph, Zachary, Ryan, Matthew and Alexander who went to be w/ Jesus after a drowning accident last summer.
