Restful night

Luke had a restful night of sleep, praise the Lord.

They have increased his anti seizure medicine and it seems to be working, as he hasnt had a seizure since. We pray that this continues and there are no more seizures.

Luke is doing great with his coughing and they think he might be able to have the breathing tube removed today. Right now the biggest issue with removing the tube is there is swelling in the throat from the tube. They are going to give Luke steroids to help with the swelling and once it goes down, they will proceed with removal. Please pray they are able to remove the tube this afternoon or evening. It may be as late as 9:00 pm this evening, otherwise it will be tomorrow.

We are doing well and were able to get some good sleep last night.

Today our nephew is getting married and so we are going to take a brief break away to join in this celebration. Lord I pray a blessing over Joseph and Gina today, pour out your Holy Spirit on them, may they glorify you in their marriage. I ask that today would be a great celebration of the hope and future you have for them. In Jesus Name, Amen.

I love you all so much, I look forward to sharing more of my heart with each of you face to face.

Gordy AKA Luke's Dad

Sounds like good news!! Hopefully the anti seizure medicine is doing its job, and the new food tube will give Luke the nourishment and strength he needs. I am praying that today is a day of total CELEBRATION!! First Joseph and Gina's wedding, and then Luke showing some more improvement along with the removal of his breathing tube . I will be praying for you all and wishing I was sharing this day with you in person. Love you!

Lord Jesus, it is obvious You are the one carrying this family right now. As they are torn to leave their precious son's bedside please give them your peace and comfort. Work a miracle while they are gone, so they are reminded it is You healing their boy Father. You say "we do not have because we do not ask". Thank you for the body of Christ who is so diligently praying over this beautiful family. You are being glorified Father. We will all stand together, someday, as one family before your royal throne, worshipping You. What a glorious day that will be. We praise You Yahweh!!

Praise God for a restful night sleep for Luke and for you and Sue - I'm sure you ALL needed it! We are still praying and trusting God for Luke's complete healing, but will be praying specifically that the breathing tube will come out today. Thank you for sharing your heart with us and letting all of us partner with you in prayer for Luke.

Much love,

We just read of Luke on the Emmaus Prayer Request list and want you to know that Russ and Ann in West Virginia are praying for Luke and for all of you. God is the God of the impossible and we can take such support from that in times like this. May you feel the prayers from so many and may God send angels to comfort Luke and each of you. We will look for many wonderful things to happen and know that God is with you.
With love in Christ,
Russ & Ann

Praise be to God. Yes, yes, go and celebrate, for the Lord has given you a new day. Set your feet to dancing, sing a new song unto the Lord and know Luke is resting in Him. Lord God, thank you for all you have done here, and we thank you for what is yet to come. We ask your continued vigil of healing and protection over Luke, especially in the absence of your most faithful servants...the Searles Family. Give them your peace as they go to be with friends and family on this great day as the wedding feast begins. Encourage them to know that You are at Luke's side. I shall continue to pray for all....Grandma Barbara

Dear Gordy and Family,
We heard about Luke through our church from someone that works with you. I just wanted to let you know that we are here, in Ringoes, NJ, and we are praying for all of you for strength, and especially for Luke for healing.

"For nothing is impossible with God." Luke 1:37

I am going to forward your site to a lady named Tracy Solomon. Tracy maintains a Caringbridge website for her daughter Katia, who is battling Leukemia. Katia has a huge following (almost one million hits now), and posts many links on her page for others going through similar situations. So if you start hearing from people who are saying that Miss Katia Ladybug sent them, you'll know why. :) Meanwhile we're going to storm heaven with prayers that your sweet boy gains strength and healing with each passing hour. God Bless you and your family.

Luke's Teddy

If I could be anyone other than me,
I would choose Luke's Teddy for me to be.

I could lay by his side and hear his heart beat,
See him stir and even wiggle his tiny feet.

I could snuggle with Luke and have no fear,
I could lay close and rest and know God is near.

No Teddy am , or never could be,
But thanks to Jesus I can be me.

And I can do something a Teddy can't do...
I can pray for Luke and so can you.

Be Luke's loving Teddy and continue to pray,
That the Lord will heal him this very day.

Now Shout to the world of God's great love,
And give thanks to Him who watches from above.

Loving and Praying...........Grandma Barbara

Praise God how he never ceases to amaze us in just taking that minute to pray. What an awesome God we have and that as he blesses you all for your faithfulness you are touching lives everywhere. May today continue to be a day filled with miracles and that the breathing tube will be removed soon. Tom & Pam

My heart is completely in awe tonight. I am Sue's mother, so precious Luke's Grandma (Miller). Have just read through each posting on this web site and can't describe the comfort this experience has been. What an outpouring of love from so many, each one speaking comfort, encouragement, hope...all the things so needed at this difficult time. We see Gordy & Sue and their children being literally sustained by these expressions of caring from so many. Ray (Grandpa) and I were at Luke's bedside yesterday with Gordy & Sue and Gordy was bringing up different comments and scriptures from this site and we were all just drinking in the love and I knew Luke felt that love too. It was so special that in that setting Luke began his first coughs. Even though it was hard to watch we knew that this was part of the necessary healing process that has to happen for Luke to be restored to wholeness.
Earlier in the day a friend had said that she felt love was the most important ingredient in Luke's restoration. How powerful it is! The very heart of God.
Today, the news wasn't very good, but this too is part of God,s plan. We must be tested and allow our faith not to waver, even though the circumstances change, God doesn't. He is ever faithful.
It means more than any of you can know what these expessions are doing for all of us. Thank you so much.
We are bathed in the peace that passes all understanding. I see it on Gordy's and Sue's faces and in all the children.
Tonight so many of us are here at their home and there is soft piano playing by Natalie that ministers to us. Some of the cousins are in beds, some on couches and all peaceful. We all hold fast to our loving Lord.
As I look out to the back yard where Auntie Cindy and Uncle Tom live there are lights and torches and flowers everywhere. This is rehearsal dinner night there for Luke's second oldest cousin' Joseph and his fiancee, Gina. Yes, tomorrow is a wedding and we have prayed for real rejoicing to bless it. The oldest cousin, Jesse and his wife, Rebekah are here from Ft. Benning in Georgia, a brother come home to be in Joseph's wedding, a miracle too and something we felt we couldn't even hope for. (Last year Jesse returned to us from Iraq and was married) Oh, how good God is! If Luke could talk I know he would say, YEAH! The smile you see here where he is lit up is what we call the Auntie Cindy smile, there is an adoration society there and the Lord allowed this wedding to be set for September 4th knowing all and in His great goodness.
We do hope in God for He is our hope and we are confident in His love. Each one of you are evidence of that. Many thanks. Grandma and Grandpa Miller Tumwater, WA

Hi Gordon,

It's great to hear that Luke is resting. I have been thinking a lot about our discussion re: blogging and thinking about Luke. I wrote a poem for Luke early this morning and will cross post it to my blog and your comments. Have you considered audioblogger? You could send voice messages from any phone to this blog. It allows you to edit what you just said. I thought it might be something that could involve your wife in the blog. Just a thought. Here is the url:

Gordon, I do not consider myself a religious person, but this blog is TRULY inspiring. I have been checking this website daily (multiple times) to see how your son Luke is doing. I couldn't stop thinking about you and your family this morning - so I logged on from home to see how things are going. I was very relieved to see that they have Luke's seizures under control and he is getting nutrition from a feeding tube. This is great news!

I hope now that they can remove the breathing tube today. You and your family are such an inspiration to me, that you can take time to celebrate your nephew's wedding today is just awesome. I hope that little Luke can get beyond this very soon and you can watch your son grow into a man just like YOU some day. I have no doubt that he will make you a very proud father. Hang in there and if there is anything I can help with, please let me know.

Hug your wife, kiss your children and celebrate every moment of life - even these most difficult times.

Oh Praise our God in Heaven. We, who come here to check on little Luke and share in other's praises, thoughts and encouragement are all so different, but oh so much alike. We come from different races, churches, beliefs and lifestyles, but as Paul says in Ephesians 2: 18:22....

For through Him we both (all) (I added) have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God:

And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and phophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone:

In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:

In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

What a joy to be a small piece of God's great family. My many visits here has brought a great sense of "belonging", not to just each of you as we share in this miracle from the Lord, but a new feeling a "belonging to the Lord". He is so awesome and loves us all...as we are and who we are. He has welcomed us to "come as we are to him"...whatever that may be. We have come and He has blessed us surely...

I remain loving and praying....GB

I want to say that this is an awesome way to keep those who know you -- and like me, those who've never met you -- informed and inspired regarding Luke's situation. I only know of Luke's situation since my friend volunteers at Mary Bridge and asked me to pray for you. I am well aware of the power of prayer, since I work at 2 other local hospitals and see how it really helps those who pray and are prayed for. So I'm sending out the best I have for Luke.
My daughter died suddenly 19 months ago -- she was 20 and slept while a fire engulfed her room away from home -- so I pray that Luke may continue in his journey oflife and health and love. Clearly you are encircled with support and prayers -- I'm adding mine!

Grandma Barbara, Thank you for the poem "Luke's Teddy Bear" it means a lot to Sue and I. I made a little poster from it and one of the pictures of Luke with his Teddy and we are going to hang it in his room and at home. Thank you.

Hi Gordy,

I just posted a poem called: What Teddy Said (For Luke). I won't cross post here because I want people to see the little picture. I also linked to the nice poem by Luke's Grandma Barbara.

A friend left a comment saying she will mention Luke in her blog. I hope all the wedding was fun and a nice stress break.

Me again. I put a copyright symbol by my poem as I always do with my writing. Please feel free to print and read the poem to Luke. (hint, hint)
