Resting well

Luke has been resting well for the past day since the G-Tube was installed. Both Mom and I were able to hold him today for a while. He is scheduled for the Tracheostomy for Friday afternoon. The surgery will allow him to breath, however we will need to continue to maintain his airway for him. Please continue to pray that he will be able to swallow and cough and that the Trach will be temporary.

We have been blessed with a different room in the PICU with a little more room, this is especially helpful with all of the family visiting. The other blessing is that we now have computer access in Luke's room, so I can blog from here.

Love you all.

Gordy & Sue,
You may not realize what an impact you are having on people during this time in your life. At a time when your own family is in crisis, you have the ability to help others. What I am seeing is a true blessing. When your son should be your sole concern, you are able to see others hurting and want to help. That is a true testament to God's love. I am encourage by your generous spirit. We continue to keep you in our prayers, but know that God is using this situation in amazing ways.

Gordy, Sue and Luke,

Since Sunday I cannot get the song Breathe out of my head. On Sunday as I was singing, and I did not do it on purpose, but at the part where it says, "Your holy presence living in me, I put in living in Luke". This has become, for me a part of the song that will always be there now.

Also I am looking forward to seeing Luke tomorrow and the rest of the family. I love you all so much.

Love, Auntie Lori and Uncle Lonnie.

PS Lonnie says hi and that he, and I, are just amazed when we read this blog. The amount of people that are praying is so amazing. Thank you from the extended family, your prayers mean so much to even us!

Our thoughts and prayers continue to focus on Luke's recovery. My experiences in the ICU recently and Luke's challenges in particular have inspired me to initiate the formation of a new organization dedicated to communicating and addressing the needs of specific kids and to coordinate action across the world to this effect. There are big plans. The first of which is to start setting up links to blogs and sites for kids in need and the charitable entities that serve them.

It would be greatly appreciated if you could mention http://all4corners.blogspot.com - I think it will continue a healing process for the world's children and their families that Luke has already shown is possible.

Love and Prayers, Triton's dad

Hi Searles Family

I was so happy to hear that Luke is resting well. It's in those quiet times that GOD's touch is healing and restoring Luke. We continue with our prayers. I also wanted to thank you for your prayers for our Elizabeth and Isabelle. GOD touched a very dangerous situation last night, we are now blessed with a very healthy grandaughter and daughter-in-law. GOD hears and answers prayers we have 2 precious girls that are miracles along with Luke. So please don't be discouraged in waiting on GOD to fullfill all of your precious Lukes needs. He is a miracle. And GOD never leaves anything unfinished. Please take care of yourselves you are loved by GOD and us.

My prayers are with Luke and your family. Please hang in there -- while the doctors have the book-smarts, they don't know the outcome of this. I will pray for Luke and hope that he proves the doctors wrong. As I'm sure Jodie will tell you, love Luke and talk to him as you would to any other child. He knows you're there and knows you love him...he's listening! Surround him with stimulation and familiar faces and voices.
My name is Chris and I'm an occupational therapy student from Toledo, Ohio.
Call me anytime if you'd like to talk -- 419-450-7355. I'm here for you.

God bless your family,
