Splints

Luke is getting casted for splints this morning. The purpose of the splints is to be able to stretch his muscles and to keep his joints flexible. So Luke will wear the splints for periods of time.

Also, Please pray in just a few minutes at 11:00 we have a meeting to discuss discharge planning. This meeting will talk about what we need to do to take Luke home. Please pray that God will guide us and give us wisdom in all of the decisions we have to make.

Father God, we pray right now that you give Luke's family the wisdom and the understanding to do what You would have them to do. In your Son's Precious Holy Name, Amen.

Hi Gordon, Just wanted to let you know that I was fasting again today for Luke. I have dedicated myself to doing this every Tuesday, so I don't loose sight of him or the many other people in need of constant prayer.

Hi and blessings to all - just wanted you to know Neighborhood church in U.P. is keeping you in prayer. We have prayer Fri. night, Sat. night and at all our meetings. Luke is lifted up often. Sunday, Karen Price and Marge Ray sang a special and mentioned Luke again. Be enouraged, your cups are being filled with prayer that pleases the Lord - Rev. 5.8 Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.

I wanted to encourage you on the move home as well. It must seem overwhelming, but I know you can do it (we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us, no?). In 2000 I learned to walk anew. In 2003, I learned to walk anew again, to talk, see, and drive. I learned to do the duties of a nurse for myself at home, doing wound changes and IV antibiotics. Here I am again, doing the nurse thing and seeing life from a wheelchair for a while.

I have found it isn't so much the big things that wear us down as the little ones. But through it all, God will be faithful to refresh, strengthen, and renew you. I remember one day as I was in the nursing home (at 45) I was overwhelmed as I looked around and saw what my likely future held. I couldn't handle it. In a devotional I was reading that day, I read Dt. 33.25b As your days, so shall your strength be. It literally jumped off the page at me. God's very loving rebuke to me was, "I will take care of tomorrow. When the trial comes, I will see to it you will have strength enough to bear it." That promise is for your family as well, in all matters.

Whether the nest being emptier or the duties for Luke seem unmanageable, Holy Spirit will draw alongside to help, comfort and strengthen all of you. You have not, are not, and will not be in this alone. Father, Son and Holy Spirit will be there as well as a part of body of Christ who would love to jump in and help in any way possible.

Well, I've probably rambled on too long. I love and pray for you all and am looking forward to hearing the 'rest of the story' in Heaven!

God bless you going in and going out, in the city and in the country -- Love Bart

Gordy, Sue and Family:

I was reading the same chaper in Revelation this morning from which Bart shared the verse. It is so awesome to think that all of the prayers from around the world for Luke and your family are "golden bowls of incense" from the prayers of God's people rising up before our Father. We will continue to lift up Luke and your family in prayer. We love you guys so much.

You will get through this, one day at a time. No one can doubt that you will handle his homecoming very well, look at all you have been through with him up to this point. I will pray for his continued recovery, full recovery.
