Off the ventilator for a while

They took Luke off the ventilator for a little while today to test his ability to breath on his own. He did really well and they will try this a little more each day to ween him off the ventilator.

Luke had a really good nap during the Seahawks win in New Orleans.

I (Luke's Dad) performed my first sterile suctioning of his Trach. Wow, that was wild. Mom performed her first bagging. This is a procedure you do during suctioning to allow Luke to breath.

Gordy, Sue, and Family. You continue to be in our prayers! Today at my church we sang "My Life is in You Lord" and I prayed for your life, strength, and hope, that I know you are putting in His hands. -Bob S Tacoma WA

Gordie & Sue: I have followed the progress on Luke and my faith is really encouraged by you two. We are continuing to pray and in my spirit I see Luke running and playing. This spiritual warfare will soon be over. Joy comes in the morning. We will hold you up in prayers.

Way to go Luke! Gordy you'll do fine. If you two survived all those diaperings, and burpings, and the rest this will be easy.

Hi, Little Luke, Just can't let a day go by without letting you know that we are praying for you! We were at church today and the preacher was preaching about how our foundations are built....I am so glad that your Sweet Daddy and Mommy have built their lives on Jesus...you are sure able to see who they put their hope in! I prayed for you often ...we are still asking for the Lord to restore you Luke. Rest in him and we look forward to seeing what new things that your Daddy will post about you next. Blessings and Peace to you, Shane, Julie and Children... praying in NC

Thank-you Father for this progress! Please continue to strengthen and heal little Luke.

I hope and pray your hearts are lifted and you are increasingly encouraged. You, Sue and the family have been through so much - I can't even fathom the extent. You are in our family's thoughts and prayers continuously.

Love, Mark

Dear Luke, Gordy & Sue, thought of you lots today. We are your friends from Georgia. Tonight at church our choir sang the musical "Somebody's praying you through" I thought a lot about all of you. INTERCESSORY prayer.
That is what all of US are doing for all of YOU and especially for LUKE. One of the songs they sang was "when I call on Jesus, all things are possible, I can mount up like eagles and soar... when I call on JESUS mountains are gonna fall... come rescue me from the fall.... when I call on Jesus all things are possible..." I thought of LUKE... please know that so many are praying for all of you. I pray for Sue's strength ... for the Lord to give her plenty of rest as she stays by her baby and carries one within ... for your strength too as you oversee and keep us posted...
Praying w/o ceasing.... as you come to mind over and over .... prayers are being lifted for LUKE. For both of you and for your other children also. Talk to you again soon.... May God give you all a restful night.

Hello sweet family, thought and prayed for you today, especially during church. We took communion today, what a precious reminder of what Jesus did for us. His love for us is overwhelming. I hope and pray you are feeling his love. I know your trusting Him ... moment by moment. Love you all, CF

Hi Searles clan!
It's good to hear that you're learning some of the new tasks (track suctioning and baggin) that will be a part of bringing Luke home. We're trusting the Lord with you that through Luke's healing process, in His perfect timing, those tasks will become unnecessary when Luke's body begins doing those things involuntarily (prayerfully, soon!).
We love you guys, and all here think of and pray for you often!

PS - We were encouraged to read the stories, and see the progress of so many in the US who have gone through similar incidents with their children, through the website hugsfoundation.org

I continue to be amazed at the strength of your family. From reading your post I know that this strength only comes from our heavenly Father. A friend of mine told me what happened to Luke last week & I have been praying for him & your family since. As I read your posts I am amazed to see your faith & your growth. I will continue to pray for your sweet little Luke. Dinah Loranger

What a blessing to see Luke's smiling face as I was logging on to see his progress!!!! Thank God for the body of Christ and their love, support, and encouragement. Jesus breathe strength and life into little Luke and help him cough and swallow. Help Daniel, Amy, Natalie, Isaiah and Ezekiel to be strong and courageous and to have silly, fun, family times despite the circumstances. Thank you for their family and friends who love you and serve them...bless them and give them strength. In the mighty and powerful name of Jesus!!!

Dear Friends,
As I came on-line to join this morning's prayer circle, I just have to stop and give God praise for the mighty works of His hands and the amazing "grip of grace" that He has upon all of you.

We thank you Jesus for meeting every need in this family today by your awesome power and great love! We thank you dear Father that even though we don't know what the future holds, we definately know the One who holds all of our futures!

Gordy, Sue, and kids, we continue to lift you up in prayer, trusting that our Great God hears every one and is so very busy responding, according to His will.

Consider yourselves hugged today and know that you are loved alot. Keep standing on the Rock and be Blessed!

You are in our prayers continually.....yesterday our pastor had us come up front and "stand in" for you as we prayed for Luke and all of you! What a pleasant surprise to see Grandma and Grandpa Miller praying behind us! God is surely hearing our prayer and answering. We continue to knock, ask and seek the Lord. We love you all very much and hugs for each of you! May you feel strength as only God can give. Auntie and Uncle

As we prayed for Luke and your family yesterday as a congregation (Destiny Christian Center, Centralia), I couldn't help but think of how many other congregations were, at that very same time, agreeing in prayer for Luke's healing. It is truly amazing how the family of God has a bond accross the nation, even the world...as we join together in the name of Jesus Christ!

I am praying for your son, Luke. God is so good. He is THE GREAT PHYSICIAN. He loves Luke soooo much. I started praying for Luke the moment I saw a little picture of him and the need for prayer on seizures. I didn't know he had drowning incident and didn't know that he was in a coma. But I prayed that he would come out of it - not knowing that he was in that state. God speaks to his children when we listen. I will continue to lift you, your family, and Luke up in prayer. God will prove to be your comfort and healer today. - Lynne at lynnedecock.blogspot.com
